Laser Sales Specialist

*This is an office-based role with no remote work options

  • Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for sales success by ensuring the maximum penetration of the company’s products (primarily lasers) and services to target accounts and grow revenue in assigned regions through gaining market share at existing customers, and by developing the customer base.
    • Direct account management of customers in industrial and research markets across the company’s product lines within a defined sales region.
    • Travel to accounts, communicate Photonics Industries’ products, technology, services, and brand effectively; while understanding customer applications, issues, and buying influences. Willingness to travel up to 15%.
    • Assist in the management and sales support of international distributors and representatives of the company’s products to achieve the Company’s sales plan and stated selling objectives.
    • Responsible for all sales-related activities in assigned territories, including trade shows and customer demos.
    • Responsible for working closely with the service and customer support groups to ensure post-sales customer satisfaction. These activities include but are not limited to: Communicate direction internally to support staff to resolve issues. Communicate logistical requirements for delivery of products and services, attend select joint visits, installations, and meetings with service personnel.
    • Sales administrative responsibilities include maintaining a regional customer contact database, providing sales forecasts, and providing market and competitive updates.
  • Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in sciences or engineering
    • Preferred to have prior selling experience within the lasers and optics industry.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Preferred to have demonstrated experience in technical sales, working with prospects and customers, and proven ability to drive and close sales situations.
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to input, track, and update sales situations in CRM systems.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, and provide timely and accurate follow-up to inquiries.
    • Self-starter who works well independently, with ability to organize and prioritize activities to create exceptional results.
  • Extra Qualifications
    • Prefer to have 1-3+ years of selling experience, but not required, in relevant industries such as: photonics, lasers, laser processing systems, and optical components and systems.
    • Preferred to have demonstrated experience and proven understanding of selling capital equipment products, but not required.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical discipline.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of general physics and optics.

Senior Laser Engineer

*This is an office-based role with no remote work options

  • Responsibilities
    • Formulate and test concepts, model, design, and develop prototypes, and execute extensive stability and reliability testing to produce manufacturable lasers according to rapidly changing customer specifications.
    • Provide progress updates and maintain timelines for multiple projects.
    • Work with the production team to ameliorate build process issues such as yield and consistency.
    • Work with service teams to troubleshoot and provide failure analysis, and incorporate customer feedback into design improvements.
    • Intermittent travel requirements to provide on-site customer support if needed.
  • Requirements
    • MS or Ph.D. in Engineering Physics, Photonics, Optics, or another related scientific/technical discipline.
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience with design, assembly, alignment, and troubleshooting of lasers and complicated optical setups in a production environment. Other types of experience, such as that involving laser operation, optical setups, and applied physics, are considered.
  • Qualifications
    • Knowledge of DPSS and/or fiber laser technologies, laser and optical design and modeling, optical components and materials from UV to IR, optical metrology and measurement equipment, and laser systems.
    • Familiarity with diffraction gratings, polarization optics, free-space beam propagation and shaping using reflective and refractive elements, acousto-optics, electro-optics, and general laser principles.
    • Excellent understanding of the interplay of structural, optical, and thermal design features on system performance.
    • Ability to do comprehensive in-lab hands-on experimentation and data analysis.
    • Experience with ultrafast laser diagnostic equipment.
    • Experience with industry software, including Zemax.
    • Experience with ultrafast laser diagnostic equipment.
  • Extra Qualifications
    • Experience with the modeling and design of high-power fiber laser systems, and validation of models through comprehensive experimentation and data analysis.

Laser Engineer I

*This is an office-based role with no remote work options

  • Responsibilities
    • Evaluate laser build yield and product stability.
    • Characterize builds on new products.
    • Help transition new lasers to production.
    • Work closely with class IV lasers in a clean room lab environment wearing a lab coat, clean room shoes, gloves, and a hair net. Safety precautions are to be observed at all times when in the clean room lab environment, especially laser protective eyewear, to protect against eye-exposure from diffuse or reflected laser light.
    • Assist laser technicians with questions or problems that they run into during their build process.
    • Document and investigate the cause of any failures in the products. Assist to find solutions, test their effectiveness, and implement into existing builds.
    • Assist in proposing and modifying production build documentation.
    • Actively track in-house and field failure mechanisms to assure problems are addressed and solved.
    • Identify problems within manufacturing that decrease component yield and consistency.
    • Test failure modes in lasers to reproduce field problems and address them with corrective solutions.
    • Intermittent travel requirements to provide on-site customer support if needed.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics/Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Photonic Science and Engineering, or another related scientific/technical discipline.
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of general physics and optics.
    • Ability to follow directions and work within a group.
    • Manual dexterity, and good hand/eye coordination, with the ability to handle small, fragile, and costly components.
  • Extra Qualifications
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of general photonics, ie lasers, semiconductor photon sources/laser diodes, beam optics, resonator optics, laser amplification, ultrafast optics, guided-wave optics, acousto-optics, electro-optics, nonlinear optics, etc.

Fiber Laser Engineer

*This is an office-based role with no remote work options

  • Responsibilities
    • We are looking for a Fiber Laser Engineer to join our Research and Development Department. The ideal candidate will contribute to the optical design of ultrafast fiber-based laser systems.
    • Model and design high power fiber laser system, and validate models through comprehensive experimentation and data analysis.
  • Requirements
    • 3+ years hands-on experience building fs-fiber laser systems in a production environment
    • Knowledge of fiber laser technology, laser and optical design and modeling, optical components and materials from UV to IR, and optical metrology and measurement equipment
    • Familiarity with diffraction gratings, polarization optics, reflective optics, beam telescoping, and general laser principles
    • Experience with ultrafast laser diagnostic equipment
    • Experience with assembly, alignment, and troubleshooting of lasers and complicated optical setups
    • Excellent understanding of the interplay of structural, optical, and thermal design features on system performance

Laser Technician

*This is an office-based role with no remote work options

  • Responsibilities
    • Attend and complete in-house Photonics Industries Laser Technician Training Program.
    • Work within your production group to build lasers from start to finish.
    • Align optics, crystals, and mirrors within laser systems.
    • Work with chillers, where applicable, in building a laser system.
    • Test lasers using laboratory equipment.
    • Document all required data during the build process and after completion.
    • Update specified spreadsheets to compile data and maintain up-to-date procedures.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose laser system issues.
    • Adhere to assembly procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
    • Building and working closely with class IV lasers in a clean room lab environment (dependent upon production group assignment) wearing a lab coat, clean room shoes, gloves, and a hair net. Safety precautions are to be observed at all times when in the clean room lab environment, especially laser protective eyewear, to protect against eye-exposure from diffuse or reflected laser light.
    • Work closely with laser engineers, especially when questions or problems arise during the build process.
  • Requirements
    • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific/technical discipline.
    • Ability to follow directions and work within a group.
    • Manual dexterity, and good hand/eye coordination, with the ability to handle small, fragile, and costly components.
  • Extra Qualifications
    • Experience working in a production and manufacturing environment.
    • Experience working in a clean room lab environment.
